How to Check AI Output

AI output should be reviewed for accuracy, usefulness, missing assumptions, and fit before you trust it.

Prompting does not end when the model gives an answer. The next step is checking whether the answer is accurate, complete, and useful for the situation.

Start by checking facts that matter. If the answer includes dates, prices, laws, commands, security advice, or product details, verify them before acting. AI tools can sound confident while still being wrong.

Next, check fit. Ask whether the answer matches your audience, tone, constraints, and goal. A technically correct answer can still be wrong for a beginner, a client page, or a production system.

Look for hidden assumptions. Good follow-up prompts include questions like: what assumptions did you make, what could be missing, and what are the risks with this approach?

The best workflow is prompt, review, revise, and verify. Treat AI output as a draft or assistant suggestion, not as the final source of truth.
